The Chief Commissioner of the Greater Bengaluru Authority (GBA), M. Maheshwar Rao, on Friday directed city corporations to identify vacancies and manpower shortages across offices and sub-divisions, with proposals for filling these posts to be submitted in coordination with the concerned departments.

“If any development project spans two or more city corporations, officials must coordinate with each other and ensure timely completion of such works,” the GBA Chief further directed.

Mr. Rao chaired a progress review meeting at the South Corporation office in Jayanagar which focused on various civic and developmental issues. He instructed that officers be assigned clear responsibilities at the corporation level and a system be put in place for submitting regular progress and performance reports. He also directed that all file processing and approvals be carried out through the e-Office system, with physical documents gradually converted to digital format. Proposals, approvals, and file movements are expected to be managed entirely through this platform.

Highlighting the importance of monitoring, he asked for the appointment of nodal officers in each jurisdiction. These officers, he said, will act as points of contact between the respective corporations and the GBA Coordination Division to facilitate regular updates on ongoing projects, ensuring that inter-corporation works are executed on schedule.

During another meeting on Friday, the GBA Chief Commissioner further instructed the establishment of Transferable Development Rights (TDR) Cells in the city corporations to ensure equitable distribution of public amenities and smoother implementation of infrastructure projects.
