The Hyderabad Heritage Run, a large scale cultural and sporting event designed to celebrate the city’s architectural richness, will be held on February 1. The initiative is being organised by the government of Telangana through the Youth Advancement, Tourism and Culture (Sports) department, with support from Telangana Tourism and the Sports Authority of Telangana.

Tourism and Culture Minister Jupally Krishna Rao unveiled the poster for the event, at Taramati Baradari on Tuesday and said the run is being positioned as a global platform to highlight Hyderabad’s heritage. “The event is being conceived as more than a sporting activity and is meant to serve as a tribute to the city’s living history. The planned routes connect some of Hyderabad’s most recognisable landmarks, turning the city into what he described as a single heritage corridor for participants,” he said.

The 21-kilometre half marathon will begin at Charminar and conclude at the Qutb Shahi Tombs. It will pass through the High Court, City College, the Legislative Assembly, Golconda Fort and Taramati Baradari before reaching the finish point. The 5-km and 10-km categories will start and end at the Qutb Shahi Tombs.

Telangana Tourism Development Corporation managing director Kranti Valluru, Rapido representative Umesh and several senior officials were present at the poster launch.
