Hyderabad witnessed jubilant scenes late on Sunday night (March 8) after India clinched the T20 World Cup, with large crowds gathering across the city to celebrate the victory. One of the most vibrant scenes unfolded along the stretch of Tank Bund, from the Telangana Secretariat to Khairatabad, where hundreds of people had assembled to watch the India vs New Zealand final on their phones and other screens.

At around 10.30 p.m., the atmosphere along the stretch was tense but relatively quiet as fans remained glued to their screens during the closing moments of the match. The silence quickly turned into an eruption of cheers when the final wicket of New Zealand fell in the 19th over. Abhishek Sharma dismissed Jacob Duffy, who was caught by Hyderabad-born Tilak Varma, sealing India’s victory and triggering loud celebrations among the gathered fans.
