A 46-year-old man, earlier arrested for sexually assaulting a minor girl, was sentenced to undergo 20 years of rigorous imprisonment by a Fast Track Special POCSO court at Rajendranagar in Hyderabad on Wednesday (May 27, 2026). The court slapped fine of ₹50,000 on the accused and announced compensation of ₹3 lakh to the victim.

The accused was identified as Syed Yousuf, an auto driver and resident of Chandrayangutta. The incident was reported on October 24, 2020, when the victim, a four-year-old girl, was playing outside her residence in Rajendranagar, along with her sister. The accused, who was driving an auto, took the children around the locality before dropping them back home. The victim later disclosed to her mother that the accused had assaulted her.

The mother noticed injuries and bleeding, following which she immediately lodged a complaint at Rajendranagar police station.

Officials said the Bharosa Centre provided continuous counselling and emotional support to the victim and her family throughout the investigation and trial process.
