HP Gas customers in the city can now buy the more convenient composite liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) cylinders, as the company has launched the cylinders in 5 kg and 10 kg variants for consumers.
Company sources said that initially, the lightweight and corrosion-free HP Navya cylinders will be made available in Kilpauk, Anna Nagar, Meenambakkam, and Velachery. “Consumers can see the quantum of cooking gas inside the cylinder. It is way lighter than the regular steel cylinders and can be handled easily by everyone. We will expand HP Navya to other areas in a phased manner,” a company official said.
Three agencies — Sri Ganesh Gas Service, Kilpauk; Annai Meenakshi, Anna Nagar; and Savitha Gas, Adambakkam — will stock and deliver these variants.
Dharmendra Kumar Behura, General Manager – South Zone, LPG, HPCL, launched the cylinders at an event in the city. The company is likely to make them available via online delivery apps soon. At current prices, a 5 kg cylinder will cost ₹3,500 and a 10 kg cylinder ₹5,002.
Meanwhile, Indian Oil Corporation (IOCL) on Saturday launched express delivery of 5 kg and 10 kg LPG cylinders across the country, including Coimbatore. Indane XTRALITE NOW will come with express delivery service and minimal documentation.
Customers can register for new connections and book refills through the IndianOil ONE App and the IndianOil Customer website (https://cx.indianoil.in), with a WhatsApp (7588888824) booking facility to be introduced shortly.
