The Jammu and Kashmir (J&K) Police’s special cell, the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB), conducted searches on Wednesday (February 25, 2026) at the house of a police officer, who is the brother of Deputy Chief Minister Surinder Choudhary, in Jammu.

Meanwhile, Mr. Surinder Choudhary said his brother was victimised “because of internal rivalry within the police department”.

The raid was conducted early in the morning at the residence of the police officer in Jammu. “Searches at the residence of Vijay Choudhary were conducted in connection with a disproportionate assets case,” officials said.

Mr. Vijay Choudhary, who serves as an Inspector in the police, was transferred to the Union Territory (UT) of Ladakh in September in 2025.

“Some officers do not like him. He was expecting a promotion and was due to become Deputy Superintendent of Police [DSP]. I was not expecting that an officer who fought against terrorism and criminals would face such an action,” Mr. Surinder Choudhary said.

He said it’s “wrong on the part of those police officers who are behind this.” “The ACB raids officers and brings disrepute, but how many cases are later proven? Such actions will demoralize those police officers who want to work,” said the Deputy Chief Minister.
