HOD of private Bengaluru college booked for sexually harassing student

The Tilaknagar police on Sunday (October 5m 2025) registered an FIR against the Head of the Department of a city-based private college for allegedly sexually harassing a student after inviting her home for lunch on October 2, 2025.

In her complaint, the victim, a student of BCA, alleged that the accused — identified as Sanjeev Kumar Mondal — invited her home on the pretext of lunch with his family.

When the victim went to his house, she allegedly found that the accused was alone. The accused offered her refreshments but the victim refused as she began feeling uncomfortable.

The accused allegedly told her that she had attendance shortage and offering to help her achieve full attendance and full marks, started touching her inappropriately.

Even as the victim sat shocked, she received a call from her friend. Citing an emergency, she ran out of the house and reached home. She narrated her ordeal to her parents who raised the issue with the college management before approaching the police.

Based on the complaint, the police have charged Mondal under sexual harassment for further investigation.
