Members of Hindu Jagarna Vedike and Nekar Nagar Hitha Rakshana Vedike will organise a protest in Hubballi on Friday demanding demolition of what they call an illegally constructed mosque in Nekar Nagar in Hubballi.
The area has over 95% Hindu residents. But some people are building a mosque in the area illegally, according to a release.
The release said that some people bought the land 18 years ago for residential purposes.
“They later built a mosque in violation of rules. Now, outsiders are coming there to pray. Some powerful politicians are bringing pressure to bear on the city corporation officers to give approval to the structure. We are demanding its demolition,” the release said.
