As a possible Cabinet reshuffle is being discussed, BAMUL president D.K. Suresh, brother of Deputy Chief Minister D.K. Shivakumar, on Sunday said that it was the high command that would decide on a Cabinet reshuffle or power sharing.

“I do not have any information. Nobody other than the high command will decide on the Cabinet reshuffle or leadership issue. Let us wait,” Mr. Suresh told presspersons here.

When asked about his dream of seeing his brother as the Chief Minister, he said: “I have spoken on it several times. The decision of the high command is final. The decision of high command is important for the Chief Minister, Ministers, legislators and Mr. Shivakumar. Let us wait till what high command decides.”

When his reaction was sought on Home MInister G. Parameshwara’s statement that there will be no leadership change if there is a reshuffle, he said: “The Cabinet reshuffle is the prerogative of the Chief Minister under instructions of the high command. In case, if the high command discusses the issue with Mr. Shivakumar, he will offer his suggestions keeping in view the party’s organisation and ways to strengthen it. Currently, there is a Chief Minister. Leadership can be discussed when the post is vacant.”

On asked if everything hinges on the claim of Mr. Shivakumar, he said: “Mr. Shivakumar is not the only claimant. There are claims from several others. I do not know what are others claiming.”

To another question on the continuation of Mr. Shivakumar as the KPCC president, Mr. Suresh said that though Mr. Shivakumar is not keen on continuing in the post, he is there since the high command has asked for it. “He will continue in the post as long as the opportunity is given to him.”
