The Kerala High Court on Thursday issued an interim stay lasting two weeks on the election to the senate of Calicut University that was to be held on November 6.
The court issued the interim stay on a petition filed by M. Sreenath, a university union councillor, alleging that attempts were being made to hold the election by excluding members of the university’s new general council which has a tenure of one year. He further alleged that a voters’ list was readied by including members of the existing/old general council and sought a stay on the election until the petition was disposed off.
The plea has been posted for hearing on November 15.
