The State government has decided to hand over all cases related to cyber fraud, hawala transactions, and cryptocurrency dealings carried out using mule accounts in the Koduvally, Thamarassery and Kakkoor areas of Kozhikode to central investigation agencies.

The decision comes on the basis of assessments by the Home department that hawala operators in the State have established and are operating a parallel economy through widespread illegal transactions.

Intelligence reports also indicated that places including Koduvally, Thamarassery, Kakkoor, Kaithapoyil and Vengeri in Kozhikode have emerged as hotspots for cyber fraud. There are also suspicions that the funds generated through such activities are being used for drug trafficking and anti-national activities.
