Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar on Saturday (January 3, 2026) announced plans to provide healthcare facilities to the elderly citizens at their doorstep under the Saat Nischay-3 programme. Sharing the information on the social media platform X, Mr. Kumar has directed the health department to implement the scheme.

“Our effort is to ensure that the needy senior citizens of the State can avail essential health services at their homes at the time of need. To ensure that health-related facilities are available, we have directed the health department to work swiftly,” the Chief Minister wrote on X.

The facilities include nursing assistance, pathology tests, blood pressure check, ECG test, physiotherapy and all types of medical assistance in emergency situations.

He further sought suggestions from the people of Bihar in the post. “It is also necessary to identify what other facilities can be provided to make the lives of the State’s senior citizens easier. In this regard, if you wish to give any specific suggestions, you can submit your valuable suggestions through post, mail and QR code.”

Any citizen willing to give suggestions can send a letter to Additional Secretary, 4 Deshratna Marg, Chief Minister Secretariat, Patna-800 001 or via email to cm-secretariat-bih@gov.in

“Since our government came to power in the State on November 24, 2005, we have worked for the upliftment of people from all sections of society and for development in every sector, guided by the principle of development with justice. We have considered the entire Bihar as our family and taken full care of everyone’s honour and respect,” Mr. Kumar said.

‘Push Bihar forward’

“We have implemented the programme of Saat Nischay-3 to include Bihar in the category of the most developed States in the country for the period from 2025 to 2030. Our objective ‘Sabka Samman-Jeevan Aasaan’ (Ease of Living) aims to reduce hardships of all citizens of the State and make their lives easier,“ he added.

The scheme, outlining seven core resolutions, was cleared by the State government on December 16, 2025.

Of the seven, ‘Accessible Health-Secure Life’ is the fifth resolution promised by the government under which block community health centres will be developed as speciality hospitals, and district hospitals as super speciality hospitals. Public-private partnerships will be encouraged in the State’s new medical colleges and hospitals for better education and treatment.

To ensure better medical facilities in remote rural areas, a separate incentive system for doctors will be arranged, and a policy will be introduced to prohibit private practice by government doctors.

The scheme was first introduced by Mr. Kumar in 2015. On returning to power in 2020, he followed it up with Saat Nischay-2.
