A woman died after a wall of her house collapsed during rains at Mathigod village near Ramanathapura in Arakalgud taluk of Hassan district early Friday (October 24, 2025) morning.
Javaramma, 62, suffered serious injuries as the wall came crashing on her. She succumbed to injuries on the way to a hospital. She is survived by her five children. She lost her husband a few years ago.

The incident occurred when all the family members were sleeping. Her son and daughter-in-law, who were also in the house were not hurt. Her body was shifted to Arakalgud for a post-mortem.
K.C. Sowmya, tahsildar of Arakalgud taluk, told The Hindu that the woman was living in a mud house. “The police have registered an FIR following the incident, and post-mortem has been conducted. We will report the death caused by the rain to the State Government. The family members will receive a compensation of ₹5 lakh,” she said.
