Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) leader T. Harish Rao on Tuesday mounted a scathing attack on the Congress government, accusing it of pushing the Singareni Collieries Company Limited (SCCL) into a financial crisis through ‘financial mismanagement’.

Addressing a meeting titled ‘Singareni Parirakshana Sadassu’, organised by the TBGKS in Kothagudem on Tuesday evening, Mr. Rao reiterated his allegations of irregularities in tenders related to overburden (OB) removal in the SCCL coal mines and the solar power projects.

He further alleged that the SCCL had been forced to go in for overdraft owing to its deteriorating financial condition under the present Congress dispensation.

Mr. Rao demanded that the Central government order a CBI or vigilance inquiry into the allegations of missing coal stocks and other alleged scams in the SCCL to ascertain the facts.

Describing the SCCL as Telangana’s valuable asset, he said, “We will tirelessly strive to protect the Singareni and safeguard the interests of its workforce as well as the State.”
