The Hennur police have arrested a 38-year-old habitual offender for allegedly robbing a cab driver of his valuables and taxi in Hegde Nagar on Thursday.

The police tracked down the accused identified as Mansoor Dhoon, a resident of Queens Road, on Saturday.

According to the police, the accused had hired a cab from Mysuru suburban bus stand and offered to pay ₹3,000 to the driver Pradeep V.K.

After reaching Shivaji Nagar, the accused told him to take the cab to Hedge Nagar as he had to get the money from his sister to pay him.

After reaching the isolated place in Telecom layout in Hegde Nagar around 11 p.m., the accused allegedly assaulted Pradeep with a knife, snatched his mobile phone, ₹3,000 cash and sped away in a car.

The victim with the help of passersby reported the incident and got admitted to a hospital for treatment.

Based on the complaint, the police tracked down the accused and further investigations are on. The accused is a habitual offender and involved in peddling drugs, said the police.
