Gujarat Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel on Friday (October 10, 2025) flagged off 201 new State Transport (ST) buses from Gandhinagar, dedicating them to the service of citizens. Minister of State for Transport Harsh Sanghavi was also present at the inauguration ceremony.

The newly launched fleet comprises 136 Super Express, 60 Semi-Luxury, and five Midi buses. These vehicles will operate on various routes across the State to ensure smoother and more comfortable travel for passengers.

Addressing the event, Chief Minister Patel directed the Transport Department to continue adopting innovative technologies, upgrading infrastructure, and modernising buses to provide citizens with high-quality, timely, and safe transportation services.

To facilitate hassle-free travel during the upcoming Diwali festival, the Chief Minister also announced the deployment of 4,200 additional buses across Gujarat. This initiative aims to help citizens celebrate the festive season with their families without travel inconvenience.

The Gujarat State Road Transport Corporation (GSRTC) has been consistently improving its services. Recently, it operated over 28,000 trips during the Bhadarvi Poonam fair at Ambaji, more than 22,000 trips for Pavagadh Asho Navratri, and over 7,000 trips during the Janmashtami festival.

At present, GSRTC runs over 8,000 buses daily, covering more than 33 lakh kilometres and serving over 27 lakh passengers across the State, according to officials.

The inauguration ceremony was attended by Gandhinagar Mayor Miraben Patel, District Panchayat President Shilpaben Patel, Gandhinagar North MLA Ritaben Patel, Gandhinagar South MLA Alpesh Thakor, and Mansa MLA Jayanti Patel, along with senior officials and staff of the Transport Department and GSRTC.
