The Chamundeshwari Electricity Supply Corporation Limited (CESC) has dismissed as false rumours circulating on social media that July 31 is the last date for submission of beneficiary details under the State government’s Gruha Jyothi scheme, clarifying that consumers have until August 31, 2026, to complete the process.
The clarification comes amid confusion among electricity consumers and Gruha Jyothi beneficiaries across the five districts under the CESC jurisdiction following misinformation about the deadline.
In a statement, CESC said the data collection exercise is progressing smoothly and urged beneficiaries not to panic or fall prey to rumours. It also emphasised that no fee is being charged for submitting the required information.
As part of the exercise, CESC meter readers or authorised personnel will visit beneficiaries’ homes to collect the necessary details. Consumers have been advised to keep the required documents ready.
The documents include Aadhaar card, a passport-size photograph of the beneficiary, Voter ID, PAN card (where applicable), a valid rental agreement (for tenants, where applicable), and ration card (where applicable).
