Leader of Opposition in the Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi on Friday (April 17, 2026) said the Constitution Amendment Bill was a “panic reaction” by the government that has nothing to do with women’s reservation but alter the country’s electoral map by taking away representation from southern, northeastern and smaller states.

He called it “nothing short of an anti-national act” and said the Opposition is going to defeat the attempt to “attack the nation state” and “defeat this Bill right here”.
