Ahead of the Rajya Sabha shift, Chief Minister Nitish Kumar on Wednesday (March 11, 2026) inaugurated and laid the foundation stone of different projects worth ₹781 crore in Araria and Kishanganj district during his last leg of Samriddhi Yatra in Bihar.

While addressing the public meeting, Mr. Kumar focused on the work he has done for the development of Bihar in the last 20 years.

Mr. Kumar inaugurated 60 projects worth ₹157 crore and laid the foundation stone for six projects worth ₹331 crore, and initiated work on two projects worth ₹58 crore in Araria.

In Kishanganj, Mr. Kumar inaugurated 49 projects worth ₹102 crore and laide the foundation stone of 73 projects worth ₹133 crore.

He also reviewed various projects in both districts and directed the officials to expedite the work. The Chief Minister sought information from officials about the implementation of various schemes announced during the Pragati Yatra in 2024-2025.

Mr. Kumar asked the officials to implement the schemes with sensitivity so that Bihar can be included in the category of the most developed States in the country.

“Our government has set a target of providing jobs and employment to 1 crore youth in the next five years. The State government’s objective is to further promote industries in Bihar, to make Bihar’s youth skilled and self-reliant, to provide them with more employment opportunities and secure their future,” Mr. Kumar said during the review meeting.

Later while addressing the public meeting organised at the Araria College campus, he stressed upon the rule of law prevailing in the State and no more Hindu-Muslim conflict in Bihar under the rule of National Democratic Alliance (NDA).

Highlighting the work done in the education section, Mr. Kumar asserted that the State government recruited teachers, opened a large number of new schools, and implemented uniform and bicycle schemes for boys and girls.

He also pointed out that a caste-based survey was conducted in 2023, in which information about people’s economic status was also found.

“The survey revealed 9.4 million poor families, including those from upper castes, backward castes, extremely backward castes, Dalits, Mahadalits, and Muslims. All these families will receive ₹2 lakh as employment assistance,” Mr. Kumar said.

Once again, the Bihar CM fumbled during his speech and instead of Rabri Devi, he mentioned that Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) chief Lalu Prasad made his daughter the Chief Minister of Bihar before going to jail in fodder scam.

Bihar Deputy Chief Minister Samrat Choudhary who was also present stressed that stated that the Nitish Kumar-led NDA government in Bihar is working without any discrimination, with the motto of “Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas”.

“The government has never discriminated based on voting preferences. It has provided electricity, water, and rations to everyone, pursuing development with justice and ensuring the welfare of all sections of society,” Mr. Choudhary said.

He announced that an airport will soon be constructed in Forbesganj, Araria district.

Taking a dig at the Opposition, he added that at one time, Bihar lacked basic infrastructure such as electricity, water, and roads and people from Araria used to travel to Nepal or Siliguri in West Bengal for medical treatment, but now they are receiving treatment at their home town.

The Deputy Chief Minister asserted that after strengthening infrastructure such as health, education, roads, electricity, and water, the government’s primary focus is now on employment and industrial development.

He explained that to revive Bihar’s industrial heritage, the semiconductor policy, industrial corridors, defense corridors, and the IT sector are being promoted, so that youth can find employment within the State.

Mr. Choudhary reiterated that Bihar will continue to progress on the path of rapid development under the guidance of Nitish Kumar.
