Former Union Minister Panabaka Lakshmi on Monday took over as the TDP convener of Tirupati parliamentary constituency.

She paid tributes at the statue of party founder and former Chief Minister N.T. Rama Rao in the presence of Andhra Pradesh Yadava Welfare Corporation chairperson G. Narasimha Yadav, who formerly held her position. Sports Authority of Andhra Pradesh (SAAP) Chairman A. Ravi Naidu, Tirupati Urban Development Authority (TUDA) Chairman C. Divakar Reddy, TDP’s State media coordinator B. Sridhar Varma, A.P. Urban Finance and Infrastructure Development Corporation Director Vooka Vijayakumar were also present.

Speaking to the media later, she announced that taking the achievements of the TDP-led NDA government to the public would be her top priority. “The series of welfare schemes initiated by the government, as well as the developmental projects launched across the State, will have to reach the public. The people should know that the good government they have chosen has already started delivering the goods,” Ms. Lakshmi said.

The party would also play an active role in the weekly Public Grievance Redressal System (PGRS) and take the issues of the public to the notice of the government and find solutions. “Depending on the gravity of the problem, I will also strive to take the problem to the notice of the Chief Minister,” she said.

Ms. Lakshmi also said that the party cadre at the village and mandal levels would be strengthened and those who had exhibited loyalty and hard work during tough times would be rewarded.
