The government has undertaken restoration of connectivity to various villages in Vizianagaram and Srikakulam districts in the backdrop of damage to causeways in several places. Over 75,000 people living in Vangara mandal lost connectivity with Rajam in Vizianagaram district due to the complete damage of a causeway, which was washed away due to floods in the Nagavali River and four seasonal streams.
Following complaints by the local people, the administration had begun restoration works by sanctioning ₹10 lakh for its construction.
Minister of MSME Kondapalli Srinivas, who visited the causeway area on Saturday (September 26, 2026), said that the restoration works would likely be completed by Sunday (September 27). Rajam MLA Kondru Murali Mohan requested the government to construct a bridge, which would require around ₹50 lakh, as the causeway would be a temporary arrangement.

Another causeway at Allina village in Burja mandal, Srikakulam district, was also damaged. People are unable to travel to places such as Burja, Palakonda, Srikakulam, and other areas. Collector Swapnil Dinakar Pundkar said that repairs would be taken up in a few days, as floodwater was still flowing along the route.
As per sources in the district administration, about 53 villages have been cut off in Srikakulam district, including 16 mandals, and 10 in Amudalavalasa. Other affected mandals include Regidi, Palakonda, and LN Peta.
