A large number of people turned up for the Run jointly organized by Mysuru City and district police here on Sunday (March 1, 1016). The Run titled “Our Police, Our Pride” in Mysuru was part of similar events organized across the State. Minister in charge of Mysuru district H.C. Mahadevappa flagged off the event at Mysuru Palace early on Sunday (March 1) morning in the presence of other dignitaries.
The Run also featured 5K and 10K events and was held with the objective of promoting fitness, drug-free society and cyber awareness among the public.
MLAs G.T. Deve Gowda and T.S. Srivatsa, Inspector General of Police, South Zone, M.B. Boralingaiah, Deputy Commissioner of Mysuru, Lakshmikant Reddy, Mysuru City Police Commissioner, Seema Latkar, Superintendent of Mysuru district police, Mallikarjun Baladandi, senior police officials, police personnel, students from various schools and colleges, and members of the public participated in the Run.
5K RUN: The participants in the 5K Run set out from the Kote Anjaneya Swamy Temple near Balarama Gate of Mysuru Palace and passed through K.R. Circle, D. Devaraj Urs Road, JLB junction, MUDA junction, Ramaswamy circle, Chamaraja double road, Tataiah circle, Gun House circle and Hardinge Circle before reaching Kote Anjaneya Swamy Temple.

10K RUN: The participants in the 10K Run, who set out from Kote Anjaneya Swamy Temple near Mysuru Palace, passed through K.R. Circle, Devaraj Urs Road, JLB junction, Metropole Circle, Hunsur Road, Kalamandira junction, Paduvarahalli junction, Open Air theatre Road, Senate Bhavan, Clock Tower of Manasagangothri, Kuvempu statue, Bogadi Road, Padma Circle, Fire Brigade junction, Ekalavya circle, Ramaswamy circle, Chamaraja double road, Gun House circle, and Hardinge Circle before returning to Kote Anjaneya Swamy Temple.
WINNERS: In the 5K Run, the first prize in the Civilian Men’s category was bagged by Nithin M, who clocked 17:04:03 minutes, while the top position in the Civilian Women’s category was bagged by Vidya, who clocked 21:44:99 minutes.
In the Policemen’s category, the first prize was bagged by Vinod, who completed the race in 20:47:88 minutes. In the policewomen’s category, the race was aced by Ms Bhuvaneshwari, who finished in 27:31:18 minutes.
In the 10K Run, the first prize in Civilian Men’s category was won by Purushotham, who clocked 32:24:64 minutes, while it was Ms Ashwini in the Civilian Women’s category, who finished in 48:52:58 minutes.
In the Policemen’s category, Megharaj H K finished first by clocking 42:12:18 minutes, and Malashri Jadav came first in the Policewomen’s category by finishing the race in 1:01:46 minutes.
