Rates of precious metals in futures fell further on Friday, May 22, 2026, as price volatility dampened demand. The gold June 5 contract on the Multi Commodity Exchange (MCX) opened with a fall of Rs 108 or 0.06 per cent at Rs 1,59,498 per 10 grams against the previous close of Rs 1,59,606. It fell further to touch an intraday low of Rs 1,58,816, a fall of Rs 790 or 0.49 per cent. Last seen, it was trading at Rs 1,59,162 with a fall of Rs 444 or 0.28 per cent.
On the MCX, the yellow metal futures for August 2026 were down by Rs 464 per cent to trade at Rs 1,61,876 per 10 grams in business turnover of 3,925 lots.
Silver Price On MCX
Similarly, the silver futures, maturing on July 3, 2026, opened lower. It started the trading session at Rs 2,73,800 against the previous close of Rs 2,74,883, a drop of Rs 1,083 or 0.39 per cent. It later declined to touch the low of Rs 2,72,016, a drop of Rs 2,867 or 1.04 per cent.
Gold Price in the International Market
In the international market, the COMEX gold price dropped by 0.33 per cent to approximately USD 4,525.2 per troy ounce. The spot gold price at 12.40 pm was USD 4,525.1 per ounce, down by USD 16.09 or 0.35 per cent.
