The 64th Authority Meeting of the Andhra Pradesh Capital Region Development Authority (APCRDA) on Tuesday approved the invitation of global tenders for establishing a 9-gigawatt data centre ecosystem in Amaravati, alongsidea series of major infrastructure, connectivity and urban development projects aimed at accelerating the capital city’s growth.

Announcing the decisions after the meeting, Municipal Administration and Urban Development Minister P. Narayana said the Authority Meeting, presided by Chief Minister Nara Chandrababu Naidu, approved construction of two 18-storey towers for the proposed Quantum Valley project at an estimated cost of ₹1,205 crore, with the work to be executed by L&T.

The meeting cleared tenders for installing 5G towers at 20 locations to strengthen digital connectivity across Amaravati.

The Authority Meeting approved a resolution to allot 2,340 acres at Mothadaka village for the proposed Inner Ring Road and railway line. It agreed to pay ₹122 crore towards acquiring 244.39 acres of Endowments Department inam lands in Palnadu district for inclusion under the land pooling scheme.

Mr. Narayana said the government had sought a waiver of the renewal fee from the Andhra Pradesh Real Estate Regulatory Authority (APRERA) for the HappyNest housing project, originally launched during 2014-19 and revived after the present government assumed office. He said APRERA has accepted the request.

The meeting ratified borrowings made for payment of nearly ₹300 crore as annual annuity to farmers, which had already been disbursed last month.

The meeting approved development of a ropeway project under the public-private partnership (PPP) model linking the railway station, bus station, Kanaka Durga temple, Punnami Ghat, in Vijayawada, Bhavani Island on Krishna river and the Venkateswara Swamy temple in Amaravati.

It decided to appoint a consultant to study the number of future bridges required across the Krishna River to connect Vijayawada and Amaravati, with a report expected within three months. Approval was also given to form a committee to ensure government buildings reflect Andhra Pradesh’s cultural heritage in their architectural design.
