Compensation for wildlife attack victims increased to ₹14 lakh in Kerala

The Kerala Cabinet on Friday decided to increase the financial assistance provided to the dependents of persons who die due to wildlife attacks from ₹10 lakh to ₹14 lakh. In a statement, Forest Minister A.K. Saseendran added the compensation for the dependents of those who die due to attacks by snakes, bees and wasps has also been increased from ₹4 lakh to ₹10 lakh. In addition, financial assistance for people who suffer injuries in wildlife attacks and require hospitalisation for more than one week has been increased, with the maximum assistance fixed at ₹2 lakh.
