A three-year-old girl was killed after a stone slab, which was kept on top of the gate of a house in Ambur town in Tirupattur, fell on her.
The girl has been identified as Habia Taskin, daughter of V. Waheed and W. Fouzia. The couple work at a private shoe-making unit in the area. An initial inquiry revealed that the parents were busy with domestic work, and the child was playing near the gate when the stone slab fell on her.
She was taken to the Government Taluk Hospital in Ambur town, where she was declared brought dead.
A case has been registered by the Ambur Town police. A probe is under way.
