A superintending engineer working with the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation’s Kukatpally zone was arrested by the Telangana Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) on Wednesday (February 4, 2026) while allegedly demanding and accepting a bribe of ₹15 lakh for clearing official bills.

The accused was identified as P. Chinna Reddy, superintending engineer, attached to the office of the Zonal Commissioner, Kukatpally zone. He was trapped by the ACB officials at his office premises after he demanded the bribe from a complainant in exchange for verifying works executed and forwarding bills worth ₹1.40 crore for approval.

The bribe amount was accepted through a computer operator, Balasani Praveen Kumar, who worked on an outsourcing basis in the same office. The tainted cash of ₹15 lakh was recovered from the possession of the computer operator.

Both the accused were taken into custody and were produced before the special court for SPE and ACB cases at Nampally for judicial remand. Further investigation is underway. The identity of the complainant was withheld for security reasons.

Telangana ACB contact details

The ACB reiterated its appeal to the public to report instances of bribery involving public servants. Citizens can contact the ACB through the toll-free number 1064 or reach out via WhatsApp, Facebook or X. Officials assured that the identity of complainants would be kept confidential.
