Genome Foundation (GF), Hyderabad, has strengthened its diagnostic and research capabilities with the inauguration of a state-of-the-art RT-PCR facility on Monday.

The facility, inaugurated by GF managing director K.P.C. Gandhi, uses a highly sensitive laboratory technique that converts RNA into DNA and amplifies it, enabling scientists to detect, measure and analyse specific genetic material. Widely used in medical diagnostics, biological research and forensic investigations, the technology is expected to significantly enhance the foundation’s work.

“The new facility will strengthen our efforts to support patients with rare diseases and enhance our training programmes for young researchers and clinicians. We can reduce turnaround time for critical genetic tests and provide faster answers to families battling rare diseases,” Mr. Gandhi said.

GF remains committed to advancing genomic research, rare disease diagnostics and training the next generation of scientists and clinicians, said a press release.
