Hyderabad has emerged as the epicentre of global capability centres and the facilities have transformed the city into a global command centre where decisions are made that shape markets and customer experiences across continents, Deputy Chief Minister Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka said on Wednesday.

“These centres are a reflection of trust in our talent, faith in our governance and confidence in our shared future,” the Deputy CM said, inaugurating American fast food chain McDonald’s Corporation GCC here with Industries and IT Minister D. Sridhar Babu.

Connecting Chicago to Charminar, Boston to Banjara Hills and London to Lingampally, the GCCs are not just back offices, but nerve centres of global innovation, Mr. Bhatti Vikramarka said, adding the city is now home to hundreds of GCCs.

“Just as McDonald’s has redefined its supply chains, sustainability and digital experiences, Hyderabad too is redefining itself as a city where technology and humanity go hand in hand,” the Deputy CM said. The new McDonald’s global office is part of a transformative global economic phenomenon, he said, expressing happiness at the firm deciding to partner with Telangana for skill development and employment opportunities for the youth.

McDonald’s said the new facility spans four floors and 156,496 sq ft feet, with a capacity to accommodate 1,200–1,500 employees. It will house global teams across enterprise data and analytics, technology, people and finance.

Mr. Sridhar Babu said McDonald’s joining the list of firms who have established GCCs in Hyderabad is a pointer to the global confidence in Hyderabad’s talent pool. The city has shaped into a centre of innovation where technologies converge as it becomes home to GCCs of companies across varied industries and sectors. Hospitality is set to be a new addition to the list with Marriot set to open its first GCC in Hyderabad.

“Talent pool, infrastructure and a vote for our government’s strong policies,” are behind Hyderabad becoming a capital of GCCs, the Minister said.

“With the launch of our new Global Office, which is an innovation hub supporting over 65 million customers worldwide each day, and establishment of a Ronald McDonald House programme in Hyderabad, we’re deepening our commitment…,” said Skye Anderson, President, Global Business Services of McDonald’s Corporation.

Ronald McDonald House is a global organisation focused on providing essential resources and support for families navigating a child who is ill or injured.
