Initial inquiry revealed that lorry driver S. Harish, 28, a resident of Ambur, took the consignment from a private car making unit at Oragadam in Kancheepuram on November 21 and halted the lorry at night to have food an eatery at Ambur town.

When he returned, he found that the locks of the container were broken and goods were stolen, police said. Ambur Taluk police inspected the spot based on a complaint, and a case was registered.
