A 19-year-old youth drowned at Yarada Beach in Visakhapatnam on Sunday (June 14, 2026). The deceased was identified as P. Abhishek, a resident of B.C. Road, Gajuwaka.

According to the police, Abhishek had visited the beach along with a group of friends for an outing. While they were playing in the water, Abhishek was reportedly swept away by strong currents. His friends noticed that he had gone missing and immediately alerted the authorities.

On receiving the information, personnel from the New Port Police Station rushed to the spot and launched a search operation. The search was carried out with the assistance of Navy personnel, local fishermen and residents. After several hours of intensive search, Abhishek’s body was traced and recovered from the sea.

The body was shifted to the government hospital for a post-mortem examination. A case was registered.
