Samagra Shiksha State Project Director B. Srinivasa Rao on Wednesday (January 28) cautioned that fraudsters are using the name of the ‘Vidyanjali’ portal to cheat the unemployed of large sums of money.
Speaking at the inaugural session of an awareness meeting on ‘Vidyanjali’ programme organised by the Department of School Education and Literacy (DoSEL), Union Ministry of Education and Samagra Shiksha Andhra Pradesh at Maris Stella College, Vijayawada, Mr. Srinivasa Rao urged all stakeholders to remain vigilant against such frauds.
He said cases had been registered in this regard and clarified that no agency was permitted to work in schools without the approval of the principal through the official online portal. He emphasised that the responsibility of safeguarding school assets worth crores of rupees provided by the government lies with teachers and principals.
He said the Vidyanjali programme was introduced by the Government of India with the noble objective of engaging society in the development of government schools and strengthen school infrastructure through community participation. Under this programme, donations were accepted only in kind, and the key focus was on improving school facilities with the support of local donors and alumni, he said.
He called upon educators to develop a sense of ownership and care towards schools and students and to effectively utilise the services of sanitation workers and watchmen, whose salaries are being paid regularly by the government.
The programme was attended by Director of the State Institute of Educational Management and Training (SIEMAT) V. N. Mastanaiah; Central representatives Ram Singh and Akram; District Education Officers, Mandal Education Officers, Samagra Shiksha officials, representatives of voluntary organisationsand resource persons
