Technology is a powerful tool and its true value lies in using it for public safety, security, and strengthening systems, Superintendent of Police P Jagadeesh said.

Mr. Jagadeesh on Saturday (March 28) participated in the grand finale of the Anantapur Police AI Hackathon 2026 held in the city. Speaking on the occasion, he explained that the initiative, organized for the first time in the State by the Anantapur Police Department, aims to encourage student creativity in the field of Artificial Intelligence (AI) and bring out innovative ideas.

Around 1,000 participants registered for the hackathon and online competitions were conducted where participants developed PPTs and applications on topics such as duty roster generator, Multilingual AI-based complaint portal, AI-powered OCR system for recognizing handwritten documents, and other related themes. From these, about 40 top teams were selected for the grand finale.

The SP noted that B.Tech students from across the State participated in the hackathon highlighting that true success lies not just in coding or building apps, but in solving real societal problems. He emphasized that AI will play a crucial role in policing in the coming years and encouraged students to focus on innovation rather than just job-seeking. He expressed hope that their ideas would contribute to the nation’s future security. Trainee IPS officer Ashwin Manideep and others were also present at the event.
