The Mysuru district police have arrested four persons for allegedly robbing a motorist after a man and a woman sought a lift from him on the Outer Ring Road here.
According to the police, complainant Vinay, a resident of J.P. Nagar in Mysuru city, was returning home in his car after attending a function in Pandavapura at around 10 p.m. on August 2. When he reached near the Manipal Hospital junction on the Mysuru-Bengaluru highway, a man and a woman waved him down and sought a lift to the Sathagalli traffic signal, a few kilometres away on the Outer Ring Road, claiming that they had to reach the place urgently.
Vinay agreed to give them a lift. When they reached near Narayana Multispeciality Hospital on the Outer Ring Road, the duo told him that they would get down a short distance ahead on the service road.
However, when Vinay stopped the car at the spot indicated by them, four persons riding two motorcycles arrived there. The four, along with the man and woman who were already in the car, allegedly threatened Vinay and prevented him from getting out of the vehicle.
The accused allegedly snatched the gold chain he was wearing, his mobile phone and purse before fleeing from the spot.
Based on Vinay’s complaint, the Mysuru South police registered a case under Section 310(2) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and took up the investigation.
A special team headed by Mysuru South Police Station Inspector Sunil S.P. arrested four accused persons on August 4. They have been identified as Syed Sageer, 35, Muskan alias Naghma Banu, 24, Suheb Pasha, 26, and Syed Salman, 30, all residents of Mysuru.
The police have recovered an autorickshaw, two scooters, a piece of gold chain and ₹30,000 in cash from the accused.
The Mysuru District Superintendent of Police appreciated the officers and personnel involved in detecting the case.
Arrested for burgulary
Meanwhile, in another case, the Mysuru South police have arrested Raghu, 29, a resident of K.M. Hundi village in Mysuru taluk, for allegedly committing a burglary.
According to the police, complainant Chandrashekar of K.M. Hundi had gone out on July 4. When he returned home, he found that gold ornaments kept in the house had been stolen by unidentified persons.
A police team formed to crack the case arrested Raghu in connection with the burglary and recovered the stolen jewellery from him.
