Former Indian Administrative Service (IAS) officer Divya Mittal on Thursday (October 15, 2026) announced the formation of a new political party, Janneeti Bharat, adding the party would contest the upcoming 2027 Uttar Pradesh Vidhan Sabha elections. Ms. Mittal, a 2013-batch IAS officer from the Uttar Pradesh cadre announcing the decision on social media platform X through a video message defined three promises of the newly announced party, centered around people-centric policymaking, decisions based on need rather than identity, and public accountability.

“Common people would be at the core of policymaking and will play an instrumental role in defining policies. Our agenda would be [Jan se niti, Niti se Bharat] [Policy by the people, policies that build Bharat]. The other agenda would be to make sure we take decision on the basis of need,[Zarurat se faisla, faisle mein barabari] [Decisions based on need, equality in decision-making],” she said.

On August 30, this year the 2013-batch Indian Administrative Service (IAS) officer announced her resignation from the service in a social media post calling her 13-year journey as unforgettable. Hailing from Rewari in Haryana, the IAS officer completed her B.Tech from Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Delhi and further did Post Graduate Diploma in Management at the Indian Institute of Management (IIM) Bangalore. She served as District Magistrate (DM) in three districts in U.P.
