Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri on Tuesday (July 28, 2026) met Li Wentang, Vice President of the ruling Communist Party’s Central Party School in Beijing and discussed future cooperation and exchanges.
Mr. Misri is currently on an official visit to Beijing.
During his meeting with Li Wentang, Mr. Misri was briefed about the school’s historical significance, intellectual contributions and academic programmes, according to a social media post by the Indian embassy.
The two also discussed opportunities for future cooperation and exchanges, it added.
On Monday (July 27), Mr. Misri met other Chinese leaders, including Vice Foreign Minister Hua Chunying, with whom he discussed the entire gamut of the bilateral relations.
The Foreign Secretary also met Sun Haiyan, Vice Minister of the International Department of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China and Hong Liang, Deputy Secretary General of the 14th National Committee of the Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference.
Mr. Hong was previously the Director General of the boundary department of the Chinese Foreign Ministry.
The visit of Mr. Misri, who was previously India’s Ambassador to China, followed the meeting between External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar and Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi on the sidelines of meetings related to the Association of Southeast Asian Nations in Manila on July 21.
During the current visit, Mr. Misri is holding a wide range of meetings with Chinese officials as the two countries have stepped up bilateral engagement.
India and China rolled out a series of measures over the last year to rebuild their relationship after it witnessed a major downturn following the deadly Galwan Valley clashes in 2020 and the subsequent military face-off that lasted for over four years.
In the last few months, India and China initiated a series of measures to reset their ties, including the resumption of the Kailash Manasarovar Yatra followed by issuance of visas and resumption of flight services between the two countries.
