The Varthur police have cracked a mobile phone showroom burglary case and arrested three persons, including food delivery executive, for allegedly breaking into the showroom and escaping with 39 new mobile phones and other electronic items worth ₹40.5 lakh recently.

The accused, identified as Divas Kami, and his associate Arohan Thapa, were caught based on CCTV camera and other technical evidence.

The accused were habitual offenders who gained access into the showroom through the emergency door. Many of the showrooms and ATMs do not have security guards nor strong electronic surveillance system in place, officials said.

The accused had handed over the stolen mobile phones to their female friend identified as Asmitha Bhora to sell them. The police have taken the accused into custody to ascertain their criminal background.
