The Old Boys Association (OBA) of Sainik School, Kazhakootam, is organising a motorcycle ride this January where 50 former students of the school, who are members of the association, will ride to Ooty from Bengaluru, Kochi, and Wayanad. Motorcycling as a sport has been growing in popularity over the last decade or so. The ride, which will be flagged off on January 16, is expected to bring together Kazaks (as the former students of Sainik School Kazhakuttam are called) from across locations and batches, the former students said in a statement. The riders would visit a few defence establishments and historic places in Ooty. The ride is being led by Appumon Joseph from Bengaluru and Shelley K. Das from Kochi. Lt. Col. Premji Anand is coordinating the activities in Ooty.
