An executive committee meeting of the Association of Malayalam Movie Artistes (AMMA) held here on Wednesday decided to set up a five-member panel to hear the allegations and counter-allegations raised by actors Ansiba Hassan, Neena Kurup, Lakshmipriya, and Tini Tom.
Shwetha Menon, president of the association, said the panel would include her, general secretary Cuckoo Parameswaran, and three other members of the association. Ms. Ansiba, who resigned from the post of joint secretary, had accused executive committee member Tini Tom of character assassination and spreading communal remarks against her. She had also demanded an independent panel to hear her complaints.
Ms. Kurup, executive committee member, had alleged that Mr. Tom had tried to assault her verbally and physically. Ms. Lakshmipriya, member of the executive committee, had accused Ms. Hassan of having sent a WhatsApp message that could have affected her family life. Mr. Tom had denied the complaints against him and alleged that there was a conspiracy against him.
Ms. Menon said the executive committee meeting had decided to send show-cause notices to members who had appeared before the media to share their ‘one-sided’ versions. They need to submit their replies within three to five days after receiving the notice.
She said Ms. Parameswaran had admitted in the executive committee meeting that she had shared an audio file related to a conversation between her and the security personnel at the association’s headquarters here to Maala Parvathi, actor and member. The alleged audio file had appeared in a section of the media, she said.
