VIZIANAGARAM

Four students of Kasturba Gandhi Balika Vidyalaya in Gurla were hospitalised on Tuesday after they experienced breathing difficulties caused by smoke inhalation from a fire in the hostel premises. The fire was caused due to a short circuit, and resulted in all the cots being burnt within the hostel premises.

The smoke caused suffocation and tension among the children. As many as five children who had breathing issues were admitted to the Nellimarla Primary Health Centre, where their condition is said to be stable. Collector S. Ramsundar Reddy said that the medical teams from Vizianagaram were also sent to the PHC to assist with the treatment of students. He further added that the education department officials have been instructed to inquire into the incident and submit a detailed report within a few days.
