Three members of a family were killed in a road accident in Chittoor district in the early hours of Saturday (March 28, 2026), after their car rammed into a stationary APSRTC bus near Sheshapuram of Bangarupalem mandal.

The deceased were identified as Sreedhar Rao (46), his wife Lakshmi (42) and their daughter Advika (16), all hailing from Warangal in Telangana. The family was en route from Bengaluru to Tirumala when the tragedy struck.

Police said the APSRTC bus, travelling from Palamaner towards Puttur, had halted along the roadside when the speeding car rammed into it from behind with heavy impact. It left the front portion of the car a mangled wreck, killing the trio on the spot.

Locals rushed to the scene and alerted the authorities, while police and emergency teams launched rescue and clearance operations. Preliminary report said that overspeeding and possible driver fatigue were key factors, contributing to the tragedy.

The bodies were shifted to the Government Area Hospital in Bangarupalem. A case has been registered.
