Several fishermen’s families are worried about the safety of their dear ones, who have been stranded in Bangladesh for the last two-and-a-half months.
The fishermen who belong to Konda Rajupalem village of Bhogapuram mandal, Vizianagaram district, went fishing on boats from Visakhapatnam on October 13, 2025.
The fishermen — including Maripalli Chinnappana, Surada Appalakonda, Maripalli Praveen, Ramesh, Chinna Appanna, Seetayya, Appanna, and Ramana — crossed the international waters and were caught immediately by the Bangladesh Coast Guard on October 22, 2025.

Speaking to The Hindu here, Kondarajupalem Sarpanch Surada Chinna Rao and Vadabalija Community Sankshema Sangham president Parimella Vasu urged the government to take necessary steps to bring them back safely to their native places.
Mr. Vasu, who provided packets of essential commodities for the family members, urged the government to pay at least ₹20,000 ex gratia per month for their livelihood till the return of the fishermen.
They met Nellimarla MLA Lokam Madhavi, who, in turn, assured to talk to the officials concerned to inquire about their safety and secure their early release from the Bangladesh jail.
Vizianagaram Collector S. Ramsundar Reddy sent the details to the government, requesting further follow-up action for their release from the prison in Bangladesh.
