The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) on Thursday (May 7, 2026) alleged that the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) wants to disturb peace and divide the people of Punjab “by carrying out bomb blasts”, claiming that it is part of the saffron party’s “Mission Punjab” electoral strategy ahead of the 2027 Assembly election.

Addressing a press conference at the party headquarters, MP Sanjay Singh said, “Bomb blasts occurred at two locations in Punjab on Wednesday, after which BJP leaders began making frantic statements. Ahead of the 2017 Punjab elections, when the Akali Dal-BJP alliance was in power, a similar blast took place in Maur, and to this day, no clarity has emerged regarding that incident.”

Mr. Singh alleged that immediately after the West Bengal elections, the BJP announced that Punjab was now its next mission. He claimed that through “Mission Punjab”, the BJP aims to carry out blasts, disturb peace, spread hatred, and incite conflict in the State.

However, he warned BJP leaders that Punjab would not tolerate attempts to disturb the peace, and the people would give them a fitting reply, ensuring the forfeiture of the BJP’s election deposits.

Mr. Singh alleged that the BJP has deep ties with Pakistan’s ISI and uses it to engineer bomb blasts and disturb peace in the country. “The BJP should not attempt in Punjab the same conspiracies it carries out across the country, including engineering blasts, riots, violence, and spreading hatred,” he said, adding that the AAP would “expose” the BJP’s “collusive” relationship with the ISI and make people across Punjab and the country aware of the Pakistani organisation that promotes violent terrorism.
