A 34-year-old Head Constable of the Bengaluru Armed Reserve Force, serving as the escort vehicle driver of BJP’s R. Ashok, the Leader of Opposition in the Karnataka Legislative Assembly, allegedly ended his life at his house under Byatarayanapura police station limits on Wednesday.
The deceased, identified as Sharanappa, was a native of Kalaburagi. He was working as a driver for the last two and half years, and lived with his wife Shailashri and two daughters in Bapuji Nagar.
The incident occurred when no one from his family was present at their home.
Sharanappa did not go to work on Wednesday and handed over the charge to a replacement driver stating that he needed to go to Mantralaya for a personal work.
The alleged suicide came to light when his brother-in-law visited the house and found him dead. The reason behind taking this step is yet to be ascertained as there no death note was found.
The Byatarayanapura police have registered a case for further investigation.
Mr. Ashok, who visited the spot, said, “He was a good person with no bad habits and lived with his family with no issues.”
