
Karnataka High Court Judge Justice Hemalekha distributed equipment to differently abled persons in Yadgir on Sunday.

Karnataka High Court and Administrative Judge Justice K.S. Hemalekha distributed equipment to eligible differently abled persons at the district court complex in Yadgir on Sunday.
Ms. Hemalekha said that the very purpose of distributing the equipment was to ensure equal opportunity and justice for the differently abled persons.
The programme was jointly organised by the Karnataka Legal Services Authority (KSLA) and District Legal Services Authority (DLSA), Department of District Health and Family Welfare, Senior Citizens and Department for the Empowerment of Differently Abled and Senior Citizens (DWDSC), Yadgir Institute of Medical Sciences (YIMS) and an NGO (Association for Persons with Disabilities) to mark the celebration of ‘Universal Health Coverage Day and International Day for Differently Abled’.
With coordination of the departments, a survey to assess the percentage of the disabilities among those who came personally and participated and selected beneficiaries were distributed the required equipment.
“We ensured the justice to the doorsteps of the differently abled persons with this equipment,” the judge said and also wished for the district to get first place in the State on issuing the necessary UDID cards to the beneficiaries.
Director of YIMS Sandeep Patil said that after successful assessment, the equipment, like wheelchairs, ear aids, sticks, etc., would be given to the selected beneficiaries. Presently, the district is in 12th place in the State, and efforts are on to secure the top spot.
Presiding Officer of the Security Appellate Tribunal and High Court Judge T.N. Dinesh Kumar (retd.) also spoke.
The general public, advocates and court staff donated blood, and equipment for 23 eligible persons was issued during the event.
Principal District and Sessions Judge Marulasiddaradhya, Civil Judge Mariyappa, president of the Yadgir Bar Association, R.S. Patil, and other officers were present.
