Environmentalists have welcomed the Government Order (GO) withdrawing with immediate effect the transfer of five acres of land in the KSIC’s silk filature at T. Narsipura to the Department of Youth Empowerment and Sports (DYES) for the construction of a stadium.

In a statement issued here, Parisarakkagi Naavu general secretary Parashuramegowda said the GO would help save over 500 trees at the filature factory that would have been felled had a stadium been constructed on the land.
