Seeking the requisite and proper supply of seeds and fertilisers and pressing for the fulfilment of various demands, including unrestricted supply of fuel for farm activities, members of All India Kisan Khet Majdoor Sangathan (AIKKMS) staged a demonstration in Dharwad on Friday (May 29, 2026).

Staging a demonstration in front of the Deputy Commissioner’s office in Dharwad, the protestors also urged the government to announce a loan of up to ₹5 lakh to farmers under the Kisan Credit Card scheme.

Addressing the protestors, the president of Dharwad district unit of AIKKMS Deepa Dharwad said that despite claims by the administration about having adequate quantities of seeds and fertilisers, the farmers were finding it difficult to procure the same.

She alleged that both the union and state governments had utterly failed in ensuring Urea and other fertilisers. Consequently, the farmers were being forced to stand in queues before Raita Samparka Kendras, she alleged.

She said that diesel was also not available properly for tractors and other vehicles used for agriculture. As selling fuel in cans had been stopped in petrol stations, the farmers were finding it difficult to get diesel for their vehicles. At least the government should exempt the farm vehicles from such conditions by providing alternatives, she said.

Subsequently, the protestors submitted a memorandum addressed to the Deputy Commissioner. AIKKMS office bearers Govind Krishnappanvar and others led the protest.
