A weaker-than-usual monsoon may be on the horizon for India this year, with the India Meteorological Department (IMD) projecting below normal rainfall during the June to September season, according to its long-range forecast released on Monday (April 13, 2026). Telangana, however, may not uniformly mirror the national trend, with parts of the State likely to receive normal rainfall.

As per the forecast, rainfall this year is not expected to be uniform across the country. While large parts of India are likely to receive below-normal rainfall, some regions, including parts of the southern peninsula, may still see normal to above-normal rain. Telangana, which falls within this zone, could be among the States that do not entirely follow the national trend.
