The first phase of the day-long training for 991 polling officials, who are mostly teachers and revenue officials, on counting day works in Vellore, Tiruvannamalai, Ranipet and Tirupattur was held in government schools and community centres within its limits on Thursday as part of preparations for counting of votes on May 4 (Monday) for Tamil Nadu Assembly election.

As vote counting day is nearing, district election officers in these districts have been reviewing preparedness for counting of votes including counting personnel randomisation and training for election staff. “Basic amenities in vote counting centres will be in place for the election staff. Election duty personnel were also instructed on guidelines that should be followed at counting centres,” said Collector V.R. Subbulaxmi in Vellore.
