A meeting between the Trinamool Congress and the full bench of the Election Commission of India ended on an acrimonious note on Wednesday (April 8, 2026) with each side accusing the other of inappropriate behaviour.

While the Trinamool delegation, comprising its Rajya Sabha leader Derek O’Brien, deputy leader Sagarika Ghose, MPs Saket Gokhale and Menaka Guruswamy, alleged that Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) Gyanesh Kumar asked them to “get lost”, poll body sources said the Commission had asked Mr. O’Brien not to raise his voice.
